●Side B1: Trevor Loveys Bounce Remix
Ol' Baker Brothers Bournemouth buddy Trevor Loveys has given Walk Into My World the full length jackin' treatment. He has compressed the living sh*t out of the drum loop and transformed it into a proper dance floor stomper. With unpredictable quirky vocal edits and the infectious sax hook, it's proper bumping bizzness!
●Side B2: Dr. Rubberfunk Hip Hop Remix
This is straight-up swingy hip hop biz for you. It has an enchanting
dramatic, cinamatic kettle drum break that nicely underpins the sax line. Vanessa's
sweet vocal truly shines through on this more stripped-down minimal version.
Coleman(現London Electricity)主宰のTongue and GrooveからThe Mighty Truthのメンバーとして活動を開始する。 Far
Bugz In The Attic、4hero、Kaidi
Tatham、 Alex Attias、Nathan Haines、Reel People、Kyoto Jazz Massiveらと共演を重ねた。 Chilli
Singer, songwriter and exceptional performer Vanessa is one of the most exciting black females voices to the hit the UK in recent years and destined to be added to the pantheon of singers credited to the 'Nu Soul' movement alongside Erica Baddu, Angie Stone and Peven Everet with her first solo album entitled Shades on Chilli Funk Records.
Influenced by the likes of Dee Dee Bridgewater, Mahelia Jackson and Curtis Mayfield, Vanessa's voice is an experience to behold, immediately distinctive, unadulterated quality, sheer joy. Her live performances are spiritual, recordings timeless and her songs sublime. Her voice has wooed audiences from Russia to Japan and can be heard at it's finest on tracks like Show Me on the album Shades
Of Jamaican descent, her parents moved to the UK from Jamaica in the late 50's, Vanessa is a true north London girl having served her time in Nam - that being how she fondly refers to Tottenham in the deep north of London. Vanessa's musical career started early when she joined the local church chorus at the age of twelve. This hugely important part of her musical and spiritual life is the bedrock t This lead to working with the UK's finest gospel acts like Noel Richards and Matt Redmond and tours around the world and shows at Wembley Stadium and Albert hall.
The rise of the UK 'acid jazz scene' and funk revival in the early nineties led Vanessa into the studio for the first time. She was lead vocalists and songwriter for The Mighty Truth who were signed to Tony Coleman's (London Electricity) label Tongue and Groove. The track 'Rebirth' penned by Vanessa was more recently included by Telstar for the definitive and hugely selling This is Acid Jazz compilation.
From there Vanessa goes on to record with Brazilian jazz funk legends Azymuth, writing and recording a track for their come-back album on Far Out Recordings. Antennas are alerted to Vanessa's talent and before long she is at the epicentre of the new and very exciting UK West London broken beat scene. Collaborations come thick and fast with the likes of Bugz In The Attic, 4 hero, Kaidi Tatum, Kyoto Jazz Massive, Alex Attais and many more.
It is at this time that Vanessa becomes a regular feature of Nathan Haines band, featuring on his album and accompanying him on a world tour. Her talent did not go unnoticed by Nathan's label Chilli Funk and his producer Phil Asher. Label boss Lofty was knocked out by Vanessa performance at a Nathan gig, 'When I heard Vanessa perform "Wonderful thing" with Nathan at the Jazz Cafe my jaw hit the floor and the shiver went down my spine , incredible ! We knew we had to do the album'. A deal was struck in 2003 Between Vanessa and Chili Funk and Phil Asher was invited to produce the album entitled Shades due for release on Chilli Funk in May 2004.
Vanessa is continuing to work with nathan Haines and Reel People and there more seesions lined up with Jon Cutler, Kirk De Giorgio and Gerd from 4 Lux Recordings.

Nostalgia77(Tru Thoughts UK)
(Seven
http://www.nostalgia77.com/
Nostalgia
77aka Ben Lamdinfirst burst onto the scene with his heavy, new funk based sound
in 2002. Unleashing a string of club friendly tracks on Tru Thoughts’hugely influential
7Sevens imprint, he then followed suit with his seminal debut LP entitled ‘Songs
For My Funeral’ in February 2004. Swiftly moving away from the distinctive raw
funk of his previous singles, ‘Songs For My Funeral’ saw him branching out to
explore a more downtempo and jazz infused style. The success of the album thus
encouraged him to progress with this approachfor his second album offering, ‘The
Garden’. A style which he describes as “acombination of soul and jazz composition
with computer based production techniques”.
“Coming from producing hip hop style beats I'd always heard snippets of jazz tracks
I loved. This LP was a way of doing some jazz tracks which did what I wanted from
start to finish.”
Nostalgia 77 is aiming for an edgy sound whilst continuing to search for a more
personal expression. His influences include free and spiritual jazz ; Sun Ra,
Coltrane, AACM , Don Cherry, Ornett Coleman , Archie Shepp, Mingus, Max Roach,
British Jazz musicians like Keith Tippet and Graham Collier, as well as 60's funk
and soul and Afro sounds .
SONG DESCRIPTIONS:
Cheney Lane
A free opening leads in to a heavy hip hop groove. Supported by Gilles Petersonon
his WorldwideShow on BBC Radio One.
Changes
Changes is based on the track ‘Metamorphosis’ (taken from Nostalgia 77’s ‘Songs
For My Funeral’ LP). A skipping rhythm and close-controlled harmony best describe
the head selection, which grows and grows with subsequent listens with new horn
arrangement written by Kelsey Jones. Solos by KJ and John Shenoy develop the theme
nicely.
Green Blades Of Grass
Wirey guitar trades phrases with double bass to open this ramshackle quartet arrangement.
Trumpet joins the groove, but guitar, bass and Rhodes set off on their own journeys,
only to meet again for a closing round of the theme.
The Hunger
This is one of the more ambitious tracks. Piano bass percussion and drums provide
a bed for a ten-piece horn arrangement. A slow brooding opening fights a cacophony
of trumpets and then passes through an atonal bowed double bass solo before emerging
into the strong searching melody which lies at the heart of the piece.
You and Me
A simply shuffling jazz piece with a middle-eastern flavour. Built around a twisting
Rhodes line and rocking double bass, it features rich bass clarinet from John
Styles and sensitive alto work by Tessa Lewin.
After Ararat
This tune is built on the back-bone of a thick afro percussion track. Using both
4/4 and 6/8 times signatures creates a tense canvas for insistent horn melody
and dogged double bass. A fiery soprano solo from John Styles takes this track
over the hill and all the way. Arguably one of the LP's most engrossing moments.
Seven Nation Army
This White Stripesclassic is given a New Orleans style work over with Alice Russellscreaming
out the vocals with soulful passion. This version is different to the original
Nostalgia 77 single release featuring a warmer double bass sound to keep it in
line with the album sound. The track was originally recorded to play as a ‘special’
at the Tru Thoughts club night ‘phonic hoop’in Brighton, UK. But huge demand for
the track led to it’s official release.
The Garden
Sweet yet haunting melody letting everybody know that this LP's over. Night night!
Background to some of the musicians:

at aged 9! National award winner for big band jazz composition at 16 beating Jamie

member of respected British free jazz group Electric Dr M with Mathew Bourne.
Other recent projects include work with Broadway Project and Spring Heel Jack.
Many of the bass parts on the LP are improvisations.

Trevor Loveys
Trevorstarted recording in the early 1990's after being inspired listening to producers such as Ron Trent, Abacus, Blaze and Masters At Work. He taught himself keyboards and drum programming after buying a synth and Akai sampler and after spending a year developing his sound and production skills he released his first single, 'Soul Motive'on Nuphonic Recordings. This release caught the attention of producers and music press alike, gaining respect from Deep Dish, Kevin Mckay and Everything But The Girl's Ben Watt.
House Of 909 is the production outfit Trevor is best known for and it was on this label that he released all his early productions such as ‘Deep Inside/Voices From Beyond,’ ‘Future Soul Orchestra/Up and Above’and InTo Deep. Trevor's music caught the attention of Richard Breeden the man behind the legendary Triballabel and now Pagan UKand It was this label that gave Trevor the chance to record his first album 'The Children We Were'. It was this album that put House Of 909on the deep house map attaining album of the Month in Muzik and DJ not to mention features in NME, Music Week and iD.
In 1998 after having some personal and creative differences with his partner Nigel Casey, Trevor decided to go solo and started producing for his friend Omid 16B's label Alola.
It was then that he started to collaborate with his bass playing friend Chris Pedley to create the album 'Era'which crossed the boundaries from deep house and electro to broken beat and downtempo. ‘Era'was album of the month in Ministry Magazine.
Recently Trevor has teamed up with West London’s Solid Grooveto form Switch.
Their debut release ‘Get Your Dub On’on Freerange Recordshas been one of those rare records that six months after release is still being played nationwide. A combination of fucked up beats, funk from the drawer and some twisted vocals has made it one of the records of the year and made Switch a name to check for.
Trevor continues to develop his sound and is currently working on projects for Dubsidedas well as releasing his debut album for Freerangeentitled ‘Intstella’ on May 2004. www.freerangerecords.co.uk
